JOB TITLE: General Bindery Worker
Reports To: Post Press Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY: The General Bindery Worker performs all
activities and tends all machinery necessary to assemble or finish materials
printed by the press department. He pays attention to detail ensuring
the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost while meeting
customer specifications and delivery requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtain work assignments from the Post Press Supervisor. Assignments
will includes such activities as drilling, stitching, shrink wrapping,
taping, cutting, collating, inserting, and gluing.
Tend to one or more machines and perform any combination of the following
duties:
Monitor cutting machine during run to ensure adherence to specs. Unload
stack from machine and pack printed material in various stages of completion
as they accumulate on delivery table of machine
Punch holes in sheets using punch press
Feed sheets into various machines for stitching, folding, indexing and
binding
Examine stitched or bound material to assure that pages or signatures
are bound in numerical order according to job ticket
Examine for defects such as ink spots, torn or loose and uneven pages.
Insert extra sheets into bound material by machine or by hand.
Obtain skids, load product onto skids according to procedures
Perform all tagging/labeling activities and move skids to shipping or
staging area
Follow all safety and work rules and regulations.
Maintain all equipment in your area in a clean, safe manner and report
any problems to your supervisor immediately.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Post Press Supervisor
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Requires high school diploma or equivalent and six months of related
experience. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions. Ability
to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished
in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to work as part of a team.
Able to tend/operate all post-press department machines, to include
flat cutter, die cutter, driller, saddle stitcher, MBO folder, etc.,
and a variety of small hand tools.
